Upland Organics, located two miles east of Wood Mountain, Sask. is holding a field day July 5 featuring speakers and field demonstrations on how to use cover crops in conventional, organic and livestock operations.
Speakers include Garry Richards of Richards Family Farm and Livestock Ltd. who will address the benefits and techniques of cover crops, and Jeff Schoeneau from the University of Saskatchewan discussing soil health. Lunch is provided. The afternoon sessions will feature field tours and demonstrations.
The farm hosts, Cody Straza and Allison Squires of Upland Organics, are working with Old Wives Watershed Association and SaskOrganics to offer free registration prior to June 24, after which it costs $5 per person. More than 100 people have already signed up to attend.
