USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News – Compared to the prior trading period, organic grain traded mostly inactive on light demand. Trade inactive on food grade corn and soybeans, roasted soybeans, oats, barley, soft red winter and hard red spring wheats. Feed grade corn traded 80 cents lower on moderate trade.
Trade activity on feed grade soybeans and soybean meal too limited to trend, but steady to slightly lower undertones noted. Trade activity on soybean oil too limited to trend, but steady undertones noted. Trade activity on feed grade HRW wheat too limited to trend, but firm undertones noted.
Forward contract prices on new crop organic grains continue to be negotiated. The NASS National Crop progress report for week ending April, 24, 2016 reports corn planted 30 per cent, corn emerged 5 per cent, soybeans planted 3 per cent, sorghum planted 20 per cent, oats planted 71 per cent oats emerged 41 per cent, winter wheat headed 26 per cent, spring wheat planted 42 per cent, spring wheat emerged 8 per cent, barley planted 45 per cent, and barley emerged 15 per cent.
